Blangah Rise Primary School

Design & Build

This project involves the design and implementation of a skyrise greenery corner located between the school hall and indoor sports hall, above the school canteen. The elevated garden helps to green the built environment while reducing heat gain and improving the surrounding microclimate. The garden is conceived as an experiential learning space, supporting gardening activities that allow students to develop science process knowledge, project management skills and teamwork through hands-on engagement with nature.

Five thematic zones were introduced to create a diverse and interactive landscape: a flowering and butterfly garden, mini forest, edible island, dry garden and rain garden. The sky-rise garden is built using a HDB patented product: PEG (Prefabricated Extensive Green Roof) tray system a self-sustaining green roof solution that is modular, flexible, and portable, with integrated water storage to support healthy plant growth.
